Benefits of AcupuncturePatient Stories..."After being struck by a vehicle as a pedestrian in January of 2003, I went through 1½ years in physical therapy for pain and healing of many soft tissue and internal injuries. Despite the physical therapy, pain continued to increase. I sought help from a pain clinic and was put on many pain medications including morphine to help alleviate the pain level of a "10" that I was living with everyday. I continued to swim, bike, walk, and do other physical exercises to try and alleviate my intense pain. In June of 2005, the pain clinic recommended I try acupuncture as some medical studies showed it to help alleviate some types of pain. After several friends and other medical professional's encouragement, I gave in and decided to try acupuncture. I went to the Acupuncture Heidi Branlund's office and had my first treatment in June 2005. After my first treatment, I did not seem to notice much difference. After a couple of days, several of my friends told me I appeared to have more energy and looked better. They asked what I had been doing for this noticeable improvement. I told them I had an acupuncture treatment. After a few more treatments, I started noticing a lessening of the pain but not completely taking it away. I stayed with the acupuncture up to my spinal surgery. It helped me maintain a lessening of the pain level during this time. After my surgery in December of 2006 my pain decreased to a level "6". I continued to receive acupuncture treatments on a bi-weekly basis and it has been and continues to be a very beneficial way of maintaining my overall pain level to a low of 1-2. I highly recommend anyone to try acupuncture that is living in an intolerable pain level. I have also found acupuncture is very good for the treatment of muscle spasms, sinus problems and other medical issues." - Don "I'll admit, I am a bit of a skeptic when it comes to anything out of the ordinary normal general medical practice. However, when it comes to a chronic illness that has continued to keep me disabled and leaves me without "normal" answers... I became earnest in my quest to get back some kind of wholeness and health. I have Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, Von Willibrand's Disease, Hypothyroidism, Restless Leg Syndrome, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and some other odds and ends of illnesses/diseases that have hit me hard in the last many years. After meeting Heidi, visiting her a few times, asking numerous questions, going to my regular General Practitioner, I decided what did I have to lose in trying acupuncture. Now I wasn't too thrilled about having needles stuck in my body, however, I thought to myself, "this should be okay since I have a high pain tolerance anyway." Heidi did a thorough evaluation of my overall health system. She didn't look at just one piece or the other piece but looked at the whole state of my health. I began treatments and overall, to be quite honest, I couldn't tell a difference. But I have had these problems for years and I know it took me a long time to get where I am and it will take some time to heal. My diseases are a part of my life and there is no known cure, only remedies to make life easier. However, my acute problems, back pain, sinus problems, and most importantly the strengthening of my immune system I have seen immediate results. This has been the best treatment so far to help me on the road to overall healing. I combine my acupuncture treatment with Chiropractic care and seeing my regular doctors. It is so nice to have a group of doctors working together for my overall health and well-being. I am blessed to have Heidi as one of my health practitioners, she is part of the puzzle of my coming to wholeness and health. I am no longer a skeptic of acupuncture... it works for me." - Kieranna |
